National PTA Mission 

 

- To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.

- To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.

- To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of the nation.

 

 

 

Patrick PTA Goals and Objectives

 

  1. To promote the welfare of children in home, school, and community by supporting and speaking on behalf of children in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.  To help secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children.

Objectives –

o       Designated Patrick PTA Executive Committee representatives will attend GCPS Board Meetings.

o       Designated Patrick PTA Executive Committee and Committee Chairs will attend PTA Day at the Capitol.

o       Gwinnett County Public School Board information will be included in PTA newsletters.

o       Executive Committee members will investigate and write a Resolution that will work towards approval of all new state-of-the-art Gwinnett County Elementary Schools to be turned over to principals with a safe gym floor surface.

o       Provide links on our website to other sights pertaining to important educational issues – Ex. – Capitol Watch.

o       Committees – Executive, Legislative, Newsletter, and Website.

  1. To raise the standards of home life and to assist parents in developing skills they need to raise and protect their children.

Objectives –

o       Provide seminars (15-30 minutes) to parents prior to performances at PTA General Meetings (internet safety, college planning, coaching, sportsmanship, etc.).

o       Provide Fire Safety Month activities through the Gwinnett County Fire Department (October).

o       Provide several family friendly Spirit Nights each month.

o       Provide the opportunity for a Family picture night.   

o       Include a section in our newsletter with helpful information – “Parent’s Corner”.

o       Provide a suggestion/comment box in the upper and lower lobbies.

o       Committees – Membership, Health & Safety, Student Banking, Spirit Nights, Newsletter.

  1. To bring into closer relation the home and the school so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children.

Objectives –

o       Provide a quality Yearbook.

o       Provide a holiday and Teacher Appreciation Lunch for all PES teachers and staff.

o       Provide a breakfast for PTA volunteers – teachers could assist as a thank you.

o       Family Game Night – free to PTA members or parents need to become a member to attend.

o       Bobby Patrick Day

o       Family Bingo Nights

o       New Student Packet – provide PTA information to those families that register at Patrick after school starts.

o       PTA Room Parent/Volunteer Coordinator

o       PTA Membership with member benefits.

o       Provide a thank you to Bus Drivers.

o       Provide School Spirit Wear for purchase.

o       Provide a suggestion/comment box in the upper and lower lobbies. 

o       Provide a Family Directory

o       Committees – Room Parent/Volunteer Coordinator, Yearbook, Hospitality, Membership, Spirit Wear

  1. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advances in physical, social and spiritual education.

Objectives –

o       Secure 8 businesses to advertise in the Family Directory.

o       Secure 15 local businesses to become PTA members.

o       Provide Cultural Arts programming.

o       Secure Bingo donations.

o       Secure PTA sponsors to possibly assist with programs or projects (Marquee)

o       Provide Spirit Nights with area restaurants.

o       Community Service project – can food and toy drive.

o       Reflections – community judges.

o       Committees – Student Directory, Membership, Cultural Arts, Reflections, Bingo, Spirit Nights.

  1. Provide the opportunity for PES students to learn life skills.

Objectives – 

o       Reflections Program

o       Career Day

o       5th Graders contribute to PTA newsletter.

o       Dalmatian Derby – students will show support for a cause (raising money for their own school), fitness activity and character development.

o       Recycle/Beautification/Environment

o       Community Outreach – can food and toy drive at Holidays.

o       Involve 5th Graders in production of Yearbook.

o       Committees – Reflections, Newsletter, Dalmation Derby, Student Banking, Environment.

  1. To raise enough funds to support programs for the 08-09 school year.

Objectives –

o       Successfully coordinate our main fundraiser in-house Dalmatian Derby.

o       Provide spirit nights.

o       Provide information regarding Box Tops program to all families.

o       Research and apply for grants.

o       Family Bingo Nights

o       Family Directory
